HC Deb 12 June 1973 vol 857 c288W
Mr. Pavitt

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will inquire into the premiums being charged by insurance companies for health cover on overseas holidays, in particular the increased premium demanded from persons suffering from a hearing disability; and if he will make a statement.

Sir G. Howe

Scheduled rates of premium for holiday insurance are controlled under the counter-inflation programme, but insurers are free within their schedules to relate the premium charged to the nature of the risk. I am not aware of any special difficulty over hearing disability, but if the hon. Member has a particular case in mind I shall be prepared to look into it.
