§ Mr. Gordon CampbellThe council, in consultation with my right hon. and learned Friend the Lord Advocate and myself, has carried out a general review to establish where present measures for the prevention of crime might be strengthened and new measures introduced. In this review a number of subjects have been identified for further examination. These include the prevention of acts of violence, the reduction of opportunities for theft.
415Wfines, the role of the school and the media in the prevention of delinquency and crime, socially deprived areas, and restitution by the offender. Sub-groups of the council are at present carrying out detailed reviews of the first three of these topics.
