HC Deb 24 July 1973 vol 860 c530W
Mr. Frank AHaun

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if, in view of the records over many years showing that June is the sunniest and August is the wettest month of summer, she will consider altering school holidays and examinations accordingly.

Mr. St. John-Stevas

Local education authorities are already at liberty to arrange school holidays as they see fit. The Department invited the views of interested parties in 1965 on possible changes in the periods at which examinations are held. The response was unfavourable and there is no indication that views in general have changed since then.
