HC Deb 24 July 1973 vol 860 c488W
Mr. Ronald Brown

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if his attention has been drawn to a proposal by radio and television cabinet manufacturers to produce cabinets formed by rigid polyurethane foam; and, having regard to the known fire hazard of this material in the home, if he will take action to prevent this development.

Mr. Lane

Tests conducted by the Home Office on cabinets made of rigid foams have shown that they offer no particular fire hazard. The properties of these foams are wholly different from those of the flexible foams used for upholstery.
