asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he has completed his examination of the IMEG proposal to improve credit facilities for sales of British equipment and services to offshore operators.

Our examination of this problem is nearly complete and my officials will shortly be discussing with industry and the banks the detailed arrangements for a scheme to meet the needs of the situation. When this consultation is complete, I will make an announcement.
