§ Mr. McCrindleasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what arrangements he has in mind for informing employers and others concerned about the provisions of the Social Security Act 1973, particularly as they affect occupational pension schemes.
§ Mr. DeanTwo leaflets—NP1 "Contribution: first advice to employers" and NP2, "The Second Pension"—will shortly be distributed to all employers552W and will be available from local social security offices. Leaflet NP2 gives preliminary guidance about the choice which each employer must make between a recognised occupational pension scheme and the reserve pension scheme. By about the end of August a more comprehensive leaflet NP3, "Occupational Pension Schemes", will be available from the Occupational Pensions Board. This will be a working guide to the relevant provisions of the Social Security Act 1973 as they affect occupational pension schemes. It is intended primarily for those involved in setting up or administering such schemes, and I hope that it will be widely used by employers and scheme administrators, but it should be of value also to trade unions and similar organisations. Copies of all these leaflets wil be made available in the Library of the House.
