asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science which establishments of further education provide full-time university first-degree courses in librarianship; and how many students from the Commonwealth and other overseas countries enrolled for such courses yearly since 1968.

Mr. St. John-Stevas

The College of Librarianship, Wales, offers a first degree course in conjunction with the University College of Wales, and the Loughborough Technical College assists in the provision of a first degree course of the Loughborough University of Technology. Courses for a first degree of the CNAA in librarianship are available at the polytechnics of Birmingham, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle-upon-Tyne and North London. The numbers of overseas students enrolled on first degree courses in librarianship are not separately summarised for any year.
