HC Deb 24 July 1973 vol 860 c374W
Sir R. Cary

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will make a statement with regard to the use and recommended administration of hexachlorophane-based dusting powders; and if he will give his advice on this subject wide publicity.

Mr. Lane

Although there is no evidence that their products were harmful, manufacturers have agreed not to use hexachlorophane in baby products and to limit the amount present in other toilet preparations to 01 per cent. Preparations containing hexachlorophane also carry a warning against their use on babies. These matters were given wide publicity in March, and I am glad to have this further opportunity of explaining the position.
