Mr. Judd

asked the Minister of State for Defence whether he will make a statement on the procedure to be adopted by the Government in deciding what action to take following publication of the Nugent Report, with particular reference to the opportunities for local authorities, Members of Parliament and the general public to make representations on its findings.

As announced in the explanatory memorandum on the Report of the Defence Lands Committee (Cmnd. 5364) there is now an opportunity for public comment and discussion on the recommendations in the report. I hope that hon. Members and others who wish to do so will write to the Ministry of Defence or make their views known in other ways. The Government will take all views into account in reaching decisions on the report. We hope to make an announcement later this year.
