HC Deb 24 July 1973 vol 860 cc332-3W
Mr. John Grant

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if, in her consideration of the need to seek powers to control and supervise private computer training establishments, she has taken account of complaints about these establishments from members of the public; and if she will state the grounds of the complaints, the numbers and the establishments to which they referred.

Mrs. Thatcher

I doubt if most private computer training establishments can reasonably be regarded as educational establishments. The establishments mentioned in three complaints received in my Department in 1971—the only ones recorded during the last three years—were certainly more concerned with training. Two of these complained of inability to obtain appropriate employment and the other of inability to obtain a refund of fees for an uncompleted course.
