§ Mr. Sydney Chapmanasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will give the membership of the Boundary Commissions for England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland constituted under the House of Commons 489W (Redistribution of Seats) Acts 1949 and 1958.
§ Mr. R. CarrMr. Speaker is the Chairman of each of the four Commissions. The other members of the Commissions are:
Commission for England
The Hon. Mr. Justice Walton (Deputy Chairman), appointed by the Lord Chancellor.
Sir Harold Banwell, appointed by the Secretary of State for the Environment.
Mr. Harold Marnham, MBE, QC, appointed by the Home Secretary.
Commission for Scotland
The Hon. Lord Hunter (Deputy Chairman), appointed by the Lord President of the Court of Session.
Professor A. D. Campbell and Mr. Ames L. Imrie, appointed by the Secretary of
State for Scotland.
Commission for Wales
The Hon. Mr. Justice Watkins, VC (Deputy Chairman), appointed by the Lord
Chancellor.
Col. J. L. Corbett-Winder, OBE, MC, appointed by the Secretary of State for Wales.
Mr. J. G. lies, OBE, appointed by the Home Secretary.
Commission for Northern Ireland
The Hon. Mr. Justice Gibson (Deputy Chairman), appointed by the Lord Chief Justice of Northern Ireland.
Mr. W. T. Ewing, MA, LL.B and Mr. F. C. Hopkirk, LL.B, appointed by the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland.
The appointment of Sir Harold Banwell will expire on 31st March 1974; all the other appointments have effect until 31st December 1979.
The Registrar General for England and Wales and the Director General of the Ordnance Survey are assessors to the Commissions for England and Wales; the Registrar General for Scotland and the Director General of the Ordnance Survey are assessors to the Commission for Scotland; and the Registrar General of Births, Deaths and Marriages for Northern Ireland, the Commissioner of Valuation for Northern Ireland, the Commissioner of Valuation for Northern Ireland and the Chief Electoral Officer for Northern Ireland are assessors to the Commission for Northern Ireland.
