HC Deb 24 July 1973 vol 860 c323W
10. Mr. William Price

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether she has any plans to increase the grants to the Arts Council.

Mr. St. John-Stevas

The Government have introduced a triennial system under which the Arts Council can plan ahead with an indication of its maximum expectations for grant up to three years ahead. The council has been notified that the maximum grant that it may expect for 1974–75 is £16.9 million; and it has been given an indication of the maximum grant for 1975–76 at £18.6 million. These indications are at current prices and are subject to parliamentary approval at the appropriate time.
