43. Mr. Denzil Davies

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry whether he will authorise an inquiry into the recent accident at the Cynheidre Colliery, North Llanelly.

The accident will, of course, be fully investigated by Her Majesty's inspectors of mines and quarries with the co-operation of the National Coal Board and the trade unions concerned.

I am sure I am speaking for the whole House in expressing our deepest sympathy to the family, friends and colleagues of the victim, and admiration of the strenuous efforts of those who worked so hard to get to the trapped men.
