HC Deb 19 July 1973 vol 860 c200W
Mr. Judd

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what is the total cost to public funds of all Government expenditure, including hospitality and security arrangements, of the visit to Great Britain by Dr. Caetano.

Mr. Anthony Royle

As Doctor Caetano's visit has only just ended, any statement of the cost to public funds must necessarily at this stage be an estimate. Expense borne by the Government Hospitality Fund and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office will be between £4,700 and £5,200. In addition the police will have incurred a certain amount of extra expenditure on, for example, overtime, catering and transport.
