HC Deb 19 July 1973 vol 860 cc193-4W
Mr. Dalyell

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what discussions he has had on contingency plans for co-ordinating the various forms of transport and communication in the event of a disaster on a North Sea oil rig.

Mr. Emery

The Department has participated in drawing up plans to deal with disasters both offshore Great Yarmouth and in Scottish waters. These plans include arrangements for alerting the rescue and medical services and other interested bodies. Simulated exercises have been carried out with departmental observers present to test these plans.
