§ Mr. Meacherasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry which are the largest 20 industries by turnover and, in the case of each, what is the percentage of turnover accounted for by multinational companies; which are the latter companies involved; and what was the equivalent position, respectively, five and 10 years ago.
§ Sir G. HoweAt present I have no information of this kind for any more recent year than 1963. The figures available for that year relate to product groups rather than industries, and are set out below so far as they can be given. The restrictions on disclosure which prevent certain figures from being given also debar me from naming the companies concerned.
