HC Deb 19 July 1973 vol 860 cc191-2W
Mr. Dell

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he can make a statement regarding the progress in construction of the new hospital at Arrowe Park, Birkenhead.

Mr. Alison

The basement area of the new Arrowe Park Hospital is approximately 80 per cent. complete and over 25 per cent. of the structural frame of the main complex has been erected. Roads, drainage and site works are as advanced as possible at this stage of the contract.

Construction, which started in August 1971, is currently behind programme, partly because work was held up for nine weeks during the national building strike last year, but Liverpool Regional Hospital Board is doing all it can to ensure good progress on this important project.
