HC Deb 18 July 1973 vol 860 c139W
Mr. Mayhew

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if, in view of the possible damage to the amenities of Thamesmead which could result from the building of this power station, he will call in for his own decision the planning application for a power station on the riverside at Barking.

Mr. Emery

I have been asked to reply.

The Central Electricity Generating Board has applied for consent under Section 2 of the Electric Lighting Act 1909, together with deemed planning permission under Section 40 (1) of the Town and Country Planning Act 1971, for a 2000 MW oil-fired generating station at Barking.

No decision will be taken on the board's application until any representations which may be made have been fully considered.
