Mr. Edward Taylor

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many claims have been allowed by the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board in the most recent year for which figures are available; and what was the shortest, longest and average length of time, respectively, between the submission of the claim and making of the decision.

During the financial year 1972–73, 6,822 applications arising in England and Wales were resolved by the making of an award.
