asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the total number of industrial and non-industrial civil servants under his responsibility; and whether he has any plans for a policy of dispersal within Scotland.

Mr. Gordon Campbell

At 1st April 1973 there were 9,598 industrial and non-industrial staff in the Scottish Office.

At present there are no plans for changing the pattern of staff distribution throughout Scotland, but the position is kept under review.
