§ Q26. Mr. Dalyellasked the Prime Minister why he has transferred responsibility for certain aspects of science policy to the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster from the Lord Privy Seal.
§ The Prime MinisterI thought it right to make this change, as part of an adjustment of ministerial responsibilities following the appoinmtent of the new Lord Privy Seal, in view of the increasing importance of the co-ordination of scientific and technological policies within the European Community.
