§ Mr. Crouchasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what is his latest estimate of the cost of enlarging the ground handling facilities at London Airport, Heathrow, to meet the expected passenger and freight traffic between now and 1985.
§ Mr. OnslowI am advised by the British Airports Authority that it will be necessary to spend approximately £75 million on terminals and related facilities at Heathrow and Gatwick to cater for the increased volume of traffic expected in the London area up to 1980. Detailed forecasts beyond that date have not been made, but this is a point which will be considered in the promised report on the Maplin project.
