HC Deb 11 July 1973 vol 859 c379W
Mr. Kinnock

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) how many national insurance pensioners are in receipt of occupational pensions from the National Coal Board;

(2) what estimate he has made of the effect of recent rises in the occupational pensions paid by the National Coal Board on the income of national insurance pensioners;

(3) how many persons in receipt of retirement pensions from the National Coal Board have experienced a fall in their weekly income as a result of the increase in National Coal Board pensions leading to a fall in their national insurance pensions.

Mr. Dean

As an increase in an occupational pension has no effect upon a national insurance pension, I assume the Questions refer to supplementary pensioners. The number of supplementary pensioners receiving National Coal Board pensions is not known and it is not possible to estimate the effect of the recent increase of miners' occupational pensions on their incomes; but no National Coal Board pensioner will have suffered a net loss of income.
