§ 80. Mr. Spriggsasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what advice he has received about the cause of bronchitis in industry; and whether he is now prepared to prescribe this chest disease for industrial injuries benefit.
§ Mr. DeanCurrent research confirms that bronchitis is associated with personal and environmental factors, such as age, cigarette smoking and pollution, and possibly genetic factors. The conditions in Section 56 (2) of the National Insurance (Industrial Injuries) Act 1965 applying to the prescription of diseases for benefit purposes are not, therefore, satisfied.
