§ Mr. John Smithasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement on the changes in sheriffdoms and sheriff court districts which are proposed following the reorganisation of local government in Scotland.
§ Mr. Gordon CampbellThe power to alter sheriffdoms and the boundaries of sheriff court districts was taken in the Sheriff Courts (Scotland) Act 1971. Consideration is now being given to the extent 337W to which changes will be necessary following the reorganisation of local government. Final decisions will not be taken until there has been full consultation with all those concerned.
