§ 62. Dame Patricia Hornsby-Smithasked the Secretary of State for Social Services, in view of the extent of delays in geriatric wards and old people's homes in obtaining necessary chiropody services, if he will take steps to increase the 311W number of chiropodists to provide adequate services for these old people.
§ Sir K. JosephNumbers of chiropodists are increasing steadily. Between 1966 and 1972 the number of full-time appointments of chiropodists by local health authorities has risen from 321 to 608. Numbers have also risen in the hospital service, where I have advised authorities that geriatric patients should be seen at least once every six weeks, a minimum standard I wish to be achieved by the end of 1974. More chiropody students continue to enter approved training.
