Mr. Duffyasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry how much financial aid has been granted to the Yorkshire and Humberside Region arising out of aid since its designation as an intermediate area; and how this compares with the financial aid granted to the North West Region for the same reasons and same period.
§ Mr. Anthony GrantSince March 1972 for Yorkshire and Humberside factory building expenditure of £680,000 has been approved and grants of £2–1 million have been offered under the Local Employment Act. Under Section 7 of240W the Industry Act loans of £1–3 million and grants of £745,000 have been offered. The figures for the intermediate areas of the North West Region are grants of £588,000 under the Local Employment Act and loans of £771,000 and grants of £945,000 under the Industry Act.
