Mr. Wolrige-Gordon

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what was the number of workers unemployed in the construction industry; and what was the number of jobs vacant in the construction industry at the latest available date in the North East of Scotland.

Mr. Dudley Smith

On 11th June 1973 there were 382 unemployed and 349 vacancies remaining unfilled in the construction industry in the North East of Scotland. The vacancy statistics relate only to notified vacancies remaining unfilled and do not measure the total unsatisfied demand for labour.
