§ 47. Mr. Croninasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what estimate he has made of the extent to which the volume of imports will change during the current year, having regard to the increase in the overseas trade deficit.
§ Sir G. HoweIt is not usual practice to publish estimates of this nature. However, continued expansion of the economy is likely to be accompanied by some growth in the volume of imports since many of the industrial materials and machinery necessary for economic growth come from overseas sources.
