§ Mr. OnslowExaminations for foreign-going certificates for masters and mates have been based on a revised syllabus 181W since 1st January 1972. This was discussed fully with the industry well in advance of the date of introduction. No subsequent representations have been received, although some concern has been expressed in discussion at the failure rate in 1972.
The syllabus is kept under review and will be updated when necessary, but there are no impending changes. Nautical colleges and the industry are making every effort to ensure that candidates are well prepared for the examinations on the new syllabus.
