§ Mr. Deakinsasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what is the policy of Her Majesty's Government towards the EEC draft directive R/1095/ 73 on a guidance premium for farms concentrating on meat production; and what annual sum he estimates will be received by United Kingdom farmers under such directive.
§ Mr. Anthony StodartThe directive on the guidance premium for beef and sheepmeat production was formally adopted by the EEC Council of Ministers on 15th May 1973 in the context of wider proposals for farm modernisation and for the encouragement of meat production. Arrangements are in hand to implement its provisions in the United Kingdom. It is too soon to give estimates of what farmers in this country may receive.
