§ Mr. ChannonThe Government have already explained, in their White Paper on "Better Homes—-The Next Priorities"(Cmnd. 5339), the circumstances in which they are prepared to look sympathetically on the use of compulsory purchase powers. But, since my right hon. and learned Friend has to decide individual applications on the merits of each case, it would not be appropriate for him to engage in any detailed discussions which might be held to prejudice his decisions.
