HC Deb 04 July 1973 vol 859 c105W
19. Mr. Fowler

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what is his latest information on the condition of the Biharis in Bangladesh; and whether he will make a statement.

Lord Balniel

Reports received from the High Commission in Dacca last week indicate that the security and freedom of movement of the Biharis continue to improve. Their living conditions and food, although poor, are no worse than those of many Bangalees. The Biharis' main problem is in finding work, but in this field also some improvements are taking place.
