Mr. Pavittasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if his Department will take the necessary initiatives to secure the production of the "phonetype" apparatus in Great Britain, which is at present imported for the use of deaf persons who wish to communicate over the telephone system by this telex adaptation.
§ Mr. Anthony GrantThis apparatus is at present under evaluation by the Post Office. If that evaluation favours "phonetype" it will be for British industry to decide whether production in the United Kingdom would be a viable undertaking.
