regional development grants and selective assistance (a) applied for and (b) granted throughout each sub-region in the North West.
§ Mr. Anthony GrantFigures for regional development grants are not available. As regards regional selective assistance, for the North West Region as a whole, apart from the assistance already announced for Cammell Laird Shipbuilders and Engineers Ltd. and Mersey Docks and Harbour Company, 236 applications have been received totalling £10, 095,000 and 38 offers have been made totalling £1, 952,000 in loans and £970,000 in grants. Tor Merseyside alone 41 applications have been received totalling £3, 278,000 and seven offers have been made totalling £1, 217,000 in loans and £42,000 in grants. Separate figures for each sub-region could not be obtained without disproportionate effort, and could not be given without breaking commercial confidence.
