§ 32. Mr. Douglas-Mannasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what response the Government have made to the appeal made by the Secretary-General of the United Nations for additional aid to Bangladesh to avoid starvation in 1973.
§ Mr. KershawWe have promised relief contributions totalling £12 million to Bangladesh since its emergency began. We are now spending this money, mainly on the repair of communications, and our Permanent Representative to the United Nations is today presenting a cheque for £425,000 to Sir Robert Jackson to help the United Nations Relief Operation Dacca to meet its administrative and transportation expenses during 1973.
