§ Sir Elwyn Jonesasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will take appropriate steps to annul the provision in the criminal injuries compensation scheme that where a victim of a crime of violence has died in consequence of the injury no compensation will be payable for the benefit of his estate.
§ Mr. CarlisleNo. The criminal injuries compensation scheme provides that in those circumstances the Board may entertain applications from the victim's spouse and dependants and may make payment towards funeral expenses.
