§ Mr. Alfred Morrisasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will take action against the local authorities which have failed to meet their statutory duties to the long-term sick and disabled under the provisions of Section 1 of the Chronically Sick and Disabled Persons Act 1970; and if he will make a statement.
§ Sir K. JosephAs the hon. Member is aware from my reply to him on 8th August last, local authorities reported to me last summer on the initial steps they had by then taken, or planned, towards the implementation of Section 1 of the Act. Since then they have been continuing the work of implementation, which inevitably is a lengthy task. I am keeping a watch on the situation and will take appropriate action if this seems to me to be justified in any particular case.—[Vol. 842. c.338–40.]
