§ Mr. Martenasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether a proposal to subsidise food in the United Kingdom at the present time will be allowed under Articles 92–94 of the Treaty of Rome; whether the Government have discussed such a proposal with the European Community; and if so, with what result.
§ Mr. GodberThis would be a matter for consideration by the Commission and the Council. The only proposal under consideration by the Government is that for the sale of butter to those in receipt of social security benefits. This could be implemented under Decision No 73/10/EEC.
