§ Mr. Peter ThomasThe latest avail able information comes from the 1961 Census. 2.2 per cent. of Welsh speakers246W in Wales then lived in Monmouthshire and 30.7 per cent. lived in Glamorgan. They represented 3.4 per cent. and 17.2 per cent. respectively of the population of these counties. More up-to-date figures based on the 1971 Census should be available later this year.
