§ Mr. Gorstasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what expenditure has been incurred by his Department since 1970 on ergonomic research into office furniture; what expenditure is currently being incurred; and what expenditure is planned.
§ Mr. OnslowMy Department has not spent any money on ergonomic research into office furniture since 1970 and has no immediate plans to do so. The Furniture Industry Research Association, which is grant-aided by my Department, is, however, currently engaged on a programme of ergonomic research into furniture dimensions for schools and further education for the Department of Education and Science.
