§ Mr. George Grantasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will make provision to compensate beneficiaries under the Industrial Injuries Act for loss of earnings and travelling expenses in attendance at hospitals for artificial limb-fitting, to bring parity with disabled Services personnel.
§ Mr. DeanThe payment of loss of earnings and travelling expenses when attending hospital is a long-established element in the preferential treatment accorded to war pensioners, a concept which commands public support. It has never been the policy to give preference of this kind to claimants under the Industrial Injuries Act and there are no new considerations which would justify a change at the present time.
