§ Mr. Frank Allaun
asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will publish in the OFFICIAL REPORT the numbers of rent stopped supplementary benefit claimants for 1970, 1971 and 1972; and if he will sub-divide the total between council and private tenants, and London and the provinces.

Following is the available information about the number of supplementary benefit recipients whose rent or housing costs were not met in full on a date in November 1970 and 1971:

Tenants of local authorities 7,900 6,900

Tenants of private landlords 20,200 20,600

Owner-occupiers 3,600 4,300

Information is not available separately for London and the provinces or for 1972. The numbers have been rounded to the nearest 100.
