HC Deb 14 February 1973 vol 850 c335W
37. Mr. Kaufman

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what proposals he has for special Government financial aid to Manchester and other large cities, in view of the urgent rating problems they face because of inflation, revaluation and fall in population.

Mr. Rippon

The Prime Minister and I have heard representations from Manchester and other large cities about their rating problems and have also had discussions yesterday with the local authority associations. We are now considering urgently the arguments presented in these talks.
