§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the average time taken by his Department to send a substantive reply to letters sent to him by Members of Parliament; how this average time compares with the time taken to send replies to the communica- 356W tions sent to him by the hon. Member for West Ham, North; and what action he has taken, or intends taking, to expedite replies.
§ Mr. Gordon CampbellIt would involve disproportionate time and labour to provide the information requested by the hon. Member, possibly risking unnecessary delay in dealing with current correspendence. If he will let me have details of any letter he has addressed to the Scottish Office to which he feels he should already have received a reply, I shall look into the matter.
