HC Deb 14 February 1973 vol 850 c349W
Mr. Spearing

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment (1) why he appointed Sir David Barran as chairman of the London rail study;

(2) what arrangements he has made with the Greater London Council concerning a greater London rail study.

Mr. Peyton

Together with the Greater London Council, the British Railways Board and London Transport I have agreed to set up a study of the future of London's rail services.

The four parties to the study agreed that an independent chairman of great ability and wide experience was needed.
