HC Deb 14 February 1973 vol 850 c354W
Mr. W. H. K. Baker

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many applications have been received in the past 12 months for grant and loan facilities for the building of inshore fishing vessels in Scotland.

Mr. Gordon Campbell

In the 12 months to 31st January 1973 applications to the White Fish Authority (Scottish Committee) and the Herring Industry Board were:

For grant 111
For loan 84

In three cases applicants for grant sought their loan assistance from the Highlands and Islands Development Board.

About 80 per cent. of the grant applications related to vessels to be built in Scottish yards.
