HC Deb 14 February 1973 vol 850 c341W
59. Mr. Will Griffiths

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what action he is taking to inform fire brigades of the results of experiments carried out at the Fire Research Station, Borehamwood; and whether he will give an assurance that all fire brigades have been advised of the research station's findings on dealing with fires in hardboard ceilings.

Mr. Channon

Arrangements already exist for keeping fire brigades in touch with the results of research carried out at the Fire Research Station. My right hon. Friends the Home Secretary and the Secretary of State for Scotland and I are, however, examining as a matter of urgency how these arrangements could be improved. Fire hazards associated with combustible linings used in buildings have been drawn to the attention of fire brigades from time to time in fire prevention guidance issued by the Home Departments, which takes into account the Fire Research Station's findings.
