§ Mr. Sydney Chapmanasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science (1) if she will instruct her representatives on the Burnham Committee to propose the re-examination of the criteria for determining scales of salaries for teachers in establishments for further education, in particular, the comparability between salaries of heads of departments in institutions of higher education and university professors;
(2) if she will instruct her representatives on the Burnham Committee to propose the amendment of the criteria for determining the salaries of heads of departments of institutions of higher education so that there is not so much emphasis on numbers of students and more on the nature of work undertaken.
