§ Mr. CarlisleThe figures for 1972 are not yet available; but in 1971, 211 persons were proceeded against under the Obscene Publications Acts 1959 and 1964, of whom 196 were found guilt. Of these, 11 were sentenced to immediate imprisonment, 161 were fined, one was placed on probation, eight were given absolute or conditional discharges and 15 were otherwise dealt with.
